This resource page gives clients a source to always refer back to for timely, accurate information. No need to scour the internet to find out some basics on your website, mailing, social media best practices, and more. You can find that information right here, from someone you've just worked with, and more importantly, already trust.

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile, previously known as Google My Business, is a free tool that allows you to reach current and potential customers through Google Search and Google Maps. Your company’s profile can not only link to your website, provide directions, and list reviews and opening hours, but also provide information on your products and services, post business updates, and more. This makes it easier for your customers to find your business online (especially since Google’s algorithms reward its own products first in search results)! Maintaining a Business Profile helps increase your visibility, gain credibility with reviews, and control your business information.

First off, it’s important to know if you even have a Google Business Profile. You can visit Find My Google Business Profile to find out if you have a Profile for your business. Once you know if you have a Profile or not, logging in is easy. Go to google.com/business and then select sign in or manage now, login with the email associated with the account, and boom, you’re in!

There are two common reasons you might be looking to regain access to the Profile, the first is when you already know who manages the account (i.e. a co-worker or marketing person) and you are looking to request access for yourself. Simply visit business.google.com/add and type in the name of your business and select it in the search results. Once you hit continue you can request ownership from the current profile owner or manager by selecting “Request Access,” fill out the form, and click “Submit.” Once your request is approved, you will have access to the Profile.

The second reason is you either don’t know the email associated with the owner or manager of your Business Profile or know the previous email with access no longer exists (i.e. a previous owner or employee) and are looking to regain access. In this case, find your business and follow all the same steps listed above. You will want to be detailed and provide as much information and proof as possible to show you are the owner of the Google Business Profile. If you don’t hear back after 3 days, open the original email you received and follow the instructions to claim and verify the Business Profile. Full warning – this process can be lengthy, but it’s worth it to have access to this tool (and better than creating a new duplicate profile).

Once logged into your Business Profile you can navigate to the menu and click “Business Profile settings” and then select People and Access. Enter the name and email address. Under Access, choose Manager and click “Invite.”

While that is a great start, it takes regular updates and monitoring to have a strong and trustworthy Business Profile. Click the “How do I make the most of it?” tab to review all the ways to optimize your Profile.

Your Google Business Profile is a way to highlight what you offer and allows customers to quickly find, learn about, and engage with you. Here are a couple of ways to make sure you are getting the most out of your Business Profile:

  1. Complete all the contact and address information.
  2. Select primary and secondary business categories.
  3. Upload photos regularly. This is an opportunity to show the best aspects of your business. Users are more likely to engage with accounts that have photos or videos.
  4. Post to your Business Profile regularly. This works similarly to social media. Posting allows you to connect with potential customers and share announcements and other relevant information.
  5. Encourage reviews. Customers want to know about real experiences with your business. You should respond to every review, good or bad. Any kind of review should receive a well-thought-out and personal reply to show prospects you care about customer experiences.
  6. Provide a business description so users know what you do and the products or services you offer.
  7. Include keywords in your Business Profile. You can add searchable keywords in your Profile description, posts, and attributes. These can all help positively impact your local and organic SEO.

Google reviews help your business stand out. Here are a couple of helpful ways to get reviews:

  1. Remind customers how quick and easy it is to leave a review.
  2. Reply to the reviews you do receive. It shows you value their input.
  3. Share a link to leave a review. Include it in receipts, thank you emails, or at the end of chat interactions. To share a link, go to your Business Profile and select “Ask for Reviews,” then you can copy your link and share it with your customers.

Reviewing your business’s performance allows you to not only see how many people have visited your Profile but also what platform they are coming from, what device they are using, and the search terms they used to find you. To view your analytics, go to your Business Profile and select Performance. From there you can select the time period you want to view and see the analytics of your Profile.

Website Help

Keeping your website content up-to-date is critical for success in any online marketing effort. The ability to update your website's content gives your business the power to keep marketing and messaging campaigns up to date. We've put together this consultative guide to help you manage your WordPress site.

Stock Photography

We typically recommend using photos of your actual products, services, and employees for use in marketing your business. However, sometimes stock photography is necessary when high-quality photos are not available and a professional photographer is not in your budget. Deciding whether stock photos will work for your business depends on what type of photos you need and how you will be using them.

If you would like to source free stock photos for your social media, website, or print advertising, we recommend Unsplash and Pixabay.

If you are unable to locate what you need for free, we suggest sites like Shutterstock, iStock, or Getty Images. You can purchase images there with different licensing for any project that you are working on.

Yes, Tulip Tree Marketing holds a Standard license with Shutterstock. This allows Tulip Tree employees to download licensed stock photos and use, edit, or upload them on behalf of clients and their projects.

No, the license does not allow for content to be transferred in whole from a Tulip Tree employee to another party. If you need an image or are asking for design files, you will have to purchase your own license of the images used in the project or have Tulip Tree Marketing create the design for you.

Each image has a specific number in the name of the photo. You can also click on the Links tab in InDesign and it will show the image name with the number in it. Just type that number in the search bar on Shutterstock and then you can purchase the image.

When you open InDesign, the image will look pixelated and there will be a red hexagon in the top left corner of the image. If you do not relink this image, it will be printed and saved in a low-quality format.

You can also find missing images in the Links tab in InDesign. On the far right of the window, there will be a red hexagon. That means the image is missing and will need to be relinked. That will also show the image number if you want to search for the image on Shutterstock.

No, if an image is not linked in an InDesign document, then it will print pixelated. InDesign saves a low-quality placeholder image so that you know what should be there even if it is not. As most computers' screen resolution is 72dpi and most printing is done at 300dpi, thinking it "looks fine" on screen is a common mistake. If you're ever unsure, we suggest printing out at 100% to check for print pixelation.

If the PRESS file you've received from Tulip Tree is a pdf, jpg, or png, the photos are embedded in the file and you can reorder as you please so long as you do not manipulate the file. If the PRESS file is an editable format (i.e. .ai/.indd/.eps/.psd), then you will need to purchase your own license and relink the photos.

Access Website Form Submissions on WordPress

Tulip Tree Marketing performs quarterly tests to ensure clients are receiving website and contact form submissions. However, depending on your email platform and security settings, sometimes these forms can go to your junk folder. We do not monitor or have access to your email account. If you feel you are not receiving forms, you can access these on the back end of your website through WordPress. If there are submissions on the website that you have not received in your email inbox, contact Tulip Tree directly to troubleshoot a solution.

Step 1: Log in to your website by visiting www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin and entering your username and password.

Step 2: In the black column on the left of your screen, click Forms.

Step 3: Click Entries.

Step 4: The heading at the top of this page will tell you which form entries you are viewing. If you have more than one form on your site, you can use this drop down to view submissions for other forms.
