Employee Spotlight: Crystal Landherr

Marketing extraordinaire, networking pro, super mom – there’s not much that Crystal can’t do. Crystal has been a Marketing Specialist on the Tulip Tree team for a few months, bringing with her an optimistic attitude and competitive edge that we could not go without. We were sure there was more to Crystal than being a marketing guru, so this month we sat down with her for the real nitty-gritty.

What do you like most about your job?

With a dozen-year run in the non-profit arena prior to joining the TT team, it is in my nature to do my part to help others succeed. It’s a great day when a project is a home run for a client…results all around!

What is your proudest moment at Tulip Tree Studios?

Joining this team was humbling – I’ve been a fan of Tulip Tree Studios for years. So, my proudest moment thus far is being invited to join the team. I’m in my happy place.

How do you balance your career and family?

With a hubby and two kiddos, this has potential to get tricky; however, my team is amazing. My family always comes first, but I work my tail off to ensure my career doesn’t get the short end of the stick. I pride myself on doing the best I can to be present at home and at work. Plus, my family loves that I’m here, especially because one of my co-workers is Puckett.

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?

I love meeting new people. The fun fact is what I believe to be the reason why – until my husband and I bought our home in Stewartville in 2013, I had never lived in the same place for very long. By the time I was 30, I had moved over 40 times! Do I like adventure? Yep!

How do you pronounce “Landherr?”

Well, if you have a great German accent you’ll say it correctly. My husband’s grandma explained that at some point it was decided we were going to keep it simple, “it’s just Lander,” she says, “forget the H and RR.” Of course, the spelling still throws people off, so we answer to most variations – land-her, land-air, land-deer, land-hair. Bottom line, don’t worry about offending us.

What’s your favorite place in the world?

Crystal Beach in Hawaii – okay, okay, that’s not actually the name. When I lived in Hawaii, I spent too many hours to count on Waimanalo Beach. It was my favorite place to enjoy the scenery with my hubby, organize my to-do list for work, bring visitors (yes, there many, thank to the Minnesota winters) to see the raw beauty without the crowds, and it’s where a small hole in the sand allowed my son to “sit up” for the first time.

What is the one food you cannot resist?

Dill pickles – if they aren’t homemade from my mom, they need to be hamburger slices. My guilty pleasure is eating them with a fork right out of the jar. The bread and butter, sweet, spicy, and all the other odd flavors don’t have a place in my fridge.
